Heckscher State Park Map
NYS Parks publishes four official Heckscher State Park maps: a park map, a detailed site map, a campground map and a cottage map, all free PDFs on the state's Heckscher page. The park is laid out around a one-way loop road, the Heckscher State Parkway, with eight numbered Parking Fields off it; the beaches are on the south shore at Fields 6 and 8, the campground is north of the parkway, and the rental cottages line Nicoll's Bay on the east side.

How the Park Is Laid Out
The Southern State Parkway ends and becomes the Heckscher State Parkway, which passes the fee booth (the "contact station" on the park map) north of a traffic circle and then becomes a loop around the middle of the park. Everything opens off the loop.
West side: Fields 3, 4 and 5, the dog walking woods, the disc golf course near Field 3, and the boat basin at Field 5 with its boat launch, fishing and crabbing area and boardwalk.
Centre: Fields 1 and 2, the park office, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, the gazebo, softball fields and a basketball court. The middle of the loop is woods, wetland and small ponds.
South shore (Great South Bay): Field 6 and West Beach, with the concession stand; the closed pool complex; Field 7 and its paddle launch; Field 8 and Overlook Beach.
East side (Nicoll's Bay): the 15 rental cottages in lots A to F, with the Greenbelt Trail along the beach in front of them.
North of the parkway: the 69-site campground near River Road, reached by its own access road.
