Heckscher State Park Cottages
Heckscher State Park rents 15 waterfront cottages on Nicoll's Bay, on the east edge of the park in East Islip. NYS Parks built them as three-season rentals for 2 to 6 people, each with a living room, bedroom or bedrooms, full kitchen, bathroom and a screened porch with bay views; four are accessible. In 2026 a one-bedroom cottage cost $225 a night off-peak and $250 peak, and the core summer season (July 8 to September 1) was rented by the week only. Book through ReserveAmerica.
The Cottages at a Glance
Where the Cottages Are
The cottages line the east shore of the park, between the park loop road and the beach on Nicoll's Bay. The state's cottage map shows six small parking lots (A to F) off the northbound park loop, each serving two or three cottages, and the Long Island Greenbelt Trail running along the beach in front of them. The paved bike path runs just west of the loop road.
The Three Cottage Types
The cottage map numbers the cottages 1 to 15 from south to north:
- One-bedroom: cottages 12, 13, 14 and 15, at the north end.
- Two-bedroom: cottages 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10.
- Two-bedroom with loft: cottages 2, 5, 8 and 11.
NYS Parks says four of the fifteen are accessible; check which ones on ReserveAmerica when you book.
